San-do-Ryu was developed to enhance the students street self-defense techniques. A strong emphasis is put on proper Blocking, striking, kicking and takedown defense along with takedown/finish defense. Sensei Cichon started 43 years ago as a 13 year old student at Master Ted Soliday's United Goju Karate association dojo in downtown Sapulpa Oklahoma. Sensei Cichon learned the techniques of the hard/ soft style over the next several years. Also while a student at Sapulpa Jr./High schools Mr. Cichon competed in American style wrestling. During the early eighties Mr. Cichon also trained and fought in American style Kickboxing, fighting locally in Dale "Apollo" Cook's circuit. After years of training Mr. Cichon moved to Nashville Tn. (where he completed His Bachelor's in Education/History)and began training with World renown Sword Master Dale Kirby. In the three and a half years of training with Shihan Kirby in Satori-ryu (Japanese Iaido and Katori-Shinto ryu Kenjutsu) Mr. Cichon become one of Shihan Kirby's Black belts and still trains with him to this day. After returning to Oklahoma, Mr. Cichon began thinking that a well rounded Martial Artist needed more than a single style's techniques in one's self-defense arsenal, so he began mixing all the arts he had learned into a single system called San-do-Ryu or the way of three style which encompassed all he had learned in his three major styles along with the wrestling and kick boxing.
